The last time I saw my grandsons

My second grandson will turn three years old in a couple weeks.
Because I'm unable to attend Mac's birthday party or see him that day — par for the course for a long-distance grandma — I was delighted to have a chance to throw a mini celebration after dinner last night in honor of his birthday No. 3.
Even PawDad joined us from more than 800 miles away, thanks to Skype.
Three cheers for unexpected desert visits — and technology — for making it possible for PawDad and me to mark the milestone with Mac.

It can't be because Megan must wait forever before seeing her Mom and Dad.
And it can't be because Mac...
Today marks six weeks since I've seen my grandsons. It seems so very much longer than that, as I'm so very much missing the magic of their ordinary days.
Days that looked like this last time I was with them:
It will likely be a while before I get to hug my grandsons — or their parents — again. Thank heavens for the hundreds of photos and videos I take when I'm with them. They keep me smiling from one hug to the next.

My visit with my grandsons is over. I head home today.
