Here and now: October 15, 2015

On my mind...

The extreme ups and downs of life. Last week, I set out on an amazing adventure on the sunrise coast of Michigan. The week before, my oldest daughter lost her baby, the "secret" I mentioned soon revealing in a previous "here and now" post. Such contrasting experiences in a short period of time creates a funky flurry of feelings.

I'll soon publish posts on the delightful as well as the devastating events. For now, I'm working on fully wrapping my head around both.

Watching tonight...

PROJECT SHIPHUNT, which was given to me during my visit to Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary last Friday. It's a documentary about Project Shiphunt, an archaeological expedition sponsored by Sony and the Intel Corp that included five high school students from Saginaw, Michigan and resulted in the discovery of two Great Lakes shipwrecks.

Working on...

Weeding out blurry or duplicate photos from my batch of nearly 3,000 taken while in Michigan. And smiling at the ones that remind me of the very special people I met during my trip—strangers who became fast friends.

Listening to...

Off and on, the videos I took of Lake Huron waves lapping the shore near various lighthouses I visited while in Michigan. I can't get enough of the soothing sound. (Perhaps I should leave the mountains and live near a lake.)

The last photo on my phone...

I received an email regarding reviewing some toys, and one of the offerings was Pet Vet, which was a beloved toy of Andrea's when she was young. She'd spend hours making her stuffed animals—and her real cat—feel better with Pet Vet while dream of becoming a vet when she grew up. So I took the photo of the toy and sent the memory-packed pic to my girl.

Andie's dream changed once she realized vets also have to put animals to sleep. Always the caretaker, she now works with developmentally disabled adults...and thankfully never has to put her clients to sleep.

Today's question:

What does your here and now look like?
