Three for two: Celebrating Benjamin's birthday

My youngest grandson (not counting the one due in November) turned two years old on Saturday. Benjamin celebrated his big day in the most fall-like way with a visit to the Pumpkin Farm.

Being a fall baby comes with the benefit of fabulous weather for marking the occasion, and Benjamin got full advantage of that, with his official birthday outing to the pumpkin farm bookended by a couple other outdoor festivities.

First, a birthday party at Gramma’s and PawDad’s (whom Benjamin calls GaGa and PawPaw, respectively). Joining the fun was big brother James, Aunt Andie and Uncle Allen. With Mommy and Daddy, too, of course.

The atmosphere was celebratory, the gifts were grand, and the construction site cake Mommy made perfectly pleasing to digger-loving Benjamin. The singing of Happy Birthday? Not so delightful to Benjamin, who faceplanted in obvious disgust when we all burst into song.

Such a silly boy. I’m (fairly) certain our singing wasn’t that bad.

The fall celebration continued on Tuesday when I joined Benjamin and Brianna on a visit to Benjamin’s favorite place in the world: Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

With below-freezing temps in the forecast for this weekend, it appears fall fun is done for the season in Colorado. Thank heavens Mother Nature waited to wallop us with wintery weather until after festivities marking Benjamin’s entry into two-dom were done.
