Memorial Day: An explanation for kids

Today we honor those who have died while defending our freedom and furthering causes important to this incomparable country we call home.

 

As many kiddos may consider Memorial Day weekend simply the kickoff to summer, here's a brief video from the History Channel to explain to them the beginnings of the holiday and the importance of taking time amidst the fun with family and friends to remember and honor our fallen service members. (Adults may learn a thing or two from this video, too. I did!)

My sincere thanks and utmost regard to all past and present military personnel serving near and far for the sacrifices made and the courage displayed for the sake of all that is good and right about America.
