Take a #GlobalSelfie

Tomorrow, April 22, is Earth Day. As part of its Earth Right Now campaign, NASA asks everyone to take a global selfie on Earth Day.

A global what? From the NASA website, "while NASA satellites constantly look at Earth from space, on Earth Day we're asking you to step outside and take a picture of yourself wherever you are on Earth. Then post it to social media using the hashtag #GlobalSelfie. For Earth Day we are trying to create an image of Earth from the ground up while also fostering a collection of portraits of the people of Earth. Once those pictures stream around the world on Earth Day, the individual pictures tagged #GlobalSelfie will be used to create a mosaic image of Earth."

So grab the grandkids and head outside to take a #GlobalSelfie together. Or go solo with your selfie. At the park, near a river or lake, maybe with just the sky itself as a backdrop. Use the printable sign below (click it for the PDF to print) to let NASA know where your #GlobalSelfie was taken. Post your selfie to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Google+ or Flickr and be sure to include the #GlobalSelfie hashtag. You can even post it directly to NASA's #GlobalSelfie Facebook page. Then check back on that Facebook page in May for details on the release of the global mosaic and video that will be created from all the selfies submitted.
