During this time of physical isolation, video chats with my grandsons are for me, like with many grandmas, a saving grace. They not only let me see those faces my heart misses so — the long-distance ones as well as the one belonging to my local love bug — the sessions allow me to get to know the boys in ways not possible in face-to-face real-time rendezvous. Trying to keep conversations flowing provides telling insight … and some fun musical performances too.

That said, sometimes the sweetest video sessions are the ones conducted solo. Such as one Benjamin recently had with himself. A special face time Mama Brianna shared with me via text message.

Benjamin had procured Brianna’s phone and entertained himself with the camera, seemingly practicing smirks and smiles of sorts to share in real-time FaceTime sessions to come.

Such a sweet peek into my sugar baby getting to know himself makes our isolation time worth it.

Well … not really. But it sure made me smile.
