One Baby Band kicks off the GRAND Social

Hello to a new week! Thank you for visiting once again for the GRAND Social link party.

Today I'd like to open the show in GRAND fashion, with this from the One Baby Band:

A star in the making, no doubt.

And now, the headliner: the GRAND Social link party. Enjoy!

link party

How it works:

  • All grandparent bloggers are invited to add a link. You don't have to blog specifically about grandparenting, but you must be a grandparent who blogs.
  • To link up, copy the direct URL to the specific post — new or old — that you want to share, not the link to your blog's home page. Then click the blue "Click here to enter" text below and follow the directions to add your post and graphic to the list.
  • You can add up to three posts, but no duplicates, please, and none you have promoted on a previous GRAND Social linky. And no contests, giveaways, or Etsy sites, please.
  • Adding a mention at the bottom of your linked posts, such as This post has been linked to the GRAND Social linky, is appreciated. Or, you can post the GRAND Social button anywhere on your page using the following code:

Grandma’sBriefs.com

<a href="/" target="_blank"><img src="http://grandmasbriefs.squarespace.com/storage/GRANDsocialbutton.jpg " alt="Grandma’sBriefs.com" width="125" height="125" /></a>

  • The GRAND Social linky is open for new posts through Wednesday evening, so please come back to see those added after your first visit.
  • If you're not a blogger, you have the pleasure of being a reader. Bloggers who link up would be honored to have one and all — bloggers and readers — visit, read and, if so moved, comment, even if just a "Hey, stopping by from the GRAND Social."

Thank you for participating in the GRAND Social!

Easter guests plus the GRAND Social

I hope your Easter Sunday was wonderful. Mine was grand, in many ways.

Though I didn't have the pleasure of spending the holiday with my grandsons and their parents, Megan did text me this photo of the cutie pies:

 brothers

The folks Jim and I did have the pleasure of spending Easter with were the good-looking couples below — Brianna and Andrea and their boyfriends (whom I forgot to ask permission to post their photos, so I'm not including their names):

It was our first gathering with the guys, and I look forward to many more to come.

I also look forward to the great posts to come in this week's GRAND Social link party. Thank you for joining me.

The next big reveal, plus the GRAND Social

Yesterday I lamented the fact my youngest grandson, Mac (previously known as Baby Mac), is no longer a baby. I'm delighted the baby boy has become a precious big boy, but I'm now wondering when I'll have another grandbaby.

I never thought I'd be a typical grandma like that, eagerly anticipating more grandkids. But there's just something magical about moments such as the one below — even when you're not the one getting the news:

In all sincerity, though, I intend to place absolutely no pressure on any of my daughters. Honest. The right time is the right time — and now is not the right time, for any of them. I can wait. I'll be patient.

In that vein, as I've always told my daughters, the key to patience is finding something to do in the meantime. What I'm doing in the current meantime is hosting another GRAND Social link party! Please join me!

My daughter the marathoner, plus the GRAND Social

mother runner

Please indulge me as I enjoy a moment of motherly boasting. You see, my daughter Megan is awesome. Well, all three of my daughters are awesome, but in light of Megan's participation in yesterday's LA Marathon, today she tops Mom's List of Awesome.

In yesterday's post, I shared as Megan and my grandsons (and Preston, too) set out on Megan's marathon adventure. Today I share with you the results. Of the more than 22,000 participants, here is how my middle daughter did in her first full (26.2 mile) marathon:

LA Marathon results

Like I said, Megan is awesome. I am so, so proud of her.

Bubby had some awesome fun of his own while in California, finding sport of a different sort on the beach during this — only his second ever — ocean-side experience:

Awesomeness awaits the rest of us, courtesy this week's GRAND Social. Thank you for joining me!

Time to change, plus time for the GRAND Social

Ah, Daylight Savings Time. It's not much fun the first couple days as we struggle to wake up get used to the change.

Perhaps the following will make it a little easier:

♪ Sha na na na na na na na. Sha na na na na. ♫

Okay, maybe not easier, but definitely cheesier. And cheese is good, right?

The GRAND Social is good, too. Thank you for joining me!

Awards, awards, and the GRAND Social

Jim and I watched the Academy Awards last night — with a short detour over to catch the current episode of The Walking Dead while it was on, as we don't have DVR capability — and I must say, it was so hard to root for one movie in the bigger categories because I saw and loved so many of them. I was delighted, though, that Argo won Best Picture. It truly was one of my favorites, it truly was deserving. If you've not seen it, do.

award for grandparentWhile the Oscar race may be over for the year, there's another round of awards going on at About.com. Like the GRAND Social, these awards are just for grandparents. And many of the nominees are grandparents we know and love, grandparents whose blogs we visit, whose books we read, who often show up right here to participate in the GRAND Social.

I urge you, my friends, after you participate in the GRAND Social below, to head on over to participate in the 2013 About.com Reader's Choice Awards to vote for your favorites in the following categories:

Goats and the GRAND Social

Okay, this is silly. I won't try to pretend it's not. Yet I simply cannot stop chuckling each and every time I watch the following video, and I wanted to share it with you here. I hope it starts off your day — your week — with a chuckle. Or at least a smile.

I hereby present to you ... Goats Yelling Like Humans:
