Fry without oil? Avalon Bay AB-Airfryer100R (video review)

I've never liked to fry foods as it not only makes a great mess, it makes for fat-filled food that messes with my stomach.

AB-Airfryer100R

The Avalon Bay AB-Airfryer100R eliminates the mess as well as the need for oil when frying foods. I was sent the Airfryer free for review, and here's a quick look at how it works:

Recipes

These are a few of the foods I've tried so far in the AB-Airfryer100R*:

Home fries — These are simply sliced potatoes coated with olive oil and salt and pepper, cooked at 400 for about 30 minutes and shaken in the basket halfway through. I also made traditional fries (sliced but not peeled) in the same manner but forgot to take a picture. Perfect!

Chicken-Fried Steak — Traditional chicken-fried steak, as in cube steaks coated in salt and pepper, then flour, egg, then flour. Cooked at 360 for about 20 minutes, flipping halfway through. Coating didn't get crispy and golden as I'd hoped, but once covered with gravy, they were still good.

Fried Tortellini Appetizer with sauce — Place desired amount of frozen tortellini in basket (sprayed with cooking spray). Cook at 400 for about 20 minutes or til the pasta bits seem crispy. Place in serving dish, top with grated mozzarella or Parmesan. Serve with heated pasta sauce for dipping. Tastes like little Italian wontons (even more awesome made with frozen ravioli!).

Fried Chicken Drumsticks — I coated drumsticks with flour, then egg, then flour. Cooked at 360 for about 25 minutes, shaking basket midway through (which then most of the coating fall off). This is a recipe I've not yet perfected, primarily as far as the coating is concerned. I may have filled the basket too full. I am determined to make my drumsticks look as golden and delicious as those on the Airfryer box.

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches — The basket perfect holds two sandwiches, buttered on the outside, with cheese on the inside. Cook at 380 for 10 minutes, flipping the sandwiches halfway through.

Seasoned drumsticks — Coat drumsticks with olive oil then sprinkle with your favorite spices (mine was a garlic-herb blend). Cook at 360 for about 30 minutes, shaking every 10 minutes to ensure all pieces are fully cooked (seems it works best to have the meaty ends sticking out, with the bony ends placed in the center). This was the best recipe of all. So far...!

*I learned after a few recipes that it's best to always preheat the Airfryer before adding food. Just turn to desired temp and turn it on for three minutes, with empty basket in place.
