Apple season has arrived and so did recently a bag of sweet, crunchy, yummy organic honeycrisp apples from Wacky Apple Organic orchards in Hotchkiss, Colorado. I shared a few with my apple-loving daughter and her hubby, munched a few with my hubby, and made these easy apple turnovers — using refrigerated crescent rolls — with others. So good! I have a couple of apple trees in my yard. I needed something to do with the apples I nabbed before the worms and squirrels had their way with them plus some my oldest daughter brought me, courtesy a coworker. Apple Butter was at the top of my "Must Do One Day" list, and it appeared one day had arrived. I gave it a shot, tweaking a bit a slow-cooker recipe I'd found online, and was quite impressed with the results. This recipe is for a small batch but can easily be doubled, depending on how many apples you have to work with.

Fall is for apples and this dip is for apples. Of course, you can eat this dip on anything -- it's especially yummy with graham cracker sticks -- but it's the absolute perfect complement to crisp and crunchy fall apples. Or apples any time of the year. Beware, though: It's also pretty darn good by itself, and that can be dangerous ... for your hips.
