After the initial elation, what was your first concern upon hearing you would soon be a grandmother? Making sure she has a good family life.

How often do you get to see your grandchildren? I raise one, the other 3 — at least once a month

What is the best thing about being a grandma? Kids hugs!

What is the most challenging part of being a grandma? Patience

Describe a recent time that one (or more) of your grandchildren made you laugh out loud. Brody, the youngest always amazes us with his intellectual words and wisdom. We wonder where in the world he get that from.

What is your favorite thing to do when visiting grandchildren at their house? I don’t! My situation is a little different — I go to pick them up and they come back home with me.

How do you maintain the bond between yourself and your grandchildren between visits? I stay connected with the lady that raises them. I also send letters every now and then. I can’t wait until they are old enough to have their own phone.

What do you most want to pass along to your grandchildren? The truth about their real father and what a happy man he was and that he LOVED his family!!

What is one word you hope your grandkids think of when they think of you? Caring

What is one thing you wish you had learned earlier as a grandparent? They say patience gets better as you get older — not true…not true!! Wished I knew how to get some!!

What one bit of advice would you give a new grandma? Take each one alone so you can enjoy them.

Do you have a website or blog?Mommie...Again. It started out being about my youngest grandson that we raise, but I have taken a 360 turn and have made a business out of it. I still blog about him all the time and my other grandkids. One day, I’ll tell my story about my real adult son. [Blog description:] “Dressing in layers these days, this 'hip' GrandMom is in the midst of menopause and raising a preschool grandson! She’s all of 53 years old and a couple of years ago, she took on the roll of 'Mommie…Again' hence the name of her blog.”

Readers: If you'd like to nominate a grandma for grilling — yourself or any other grandma — please e-mail me her first name and e-mail address and I'll take care of the rest. Thank you!
