Trivia Day

So you thought the holidays were done and over? Oh, no, no, no. Today, in fact, is another holiday. Of sorts. One you've perhaps never heard of. I minor one, I do admit, yet a holiday just the same.

Sort of.

You see, today is Trivia Day!

Okay, okay... it's not really a holiday. It is a special day, though, especially for those who — like me — love trivia, feel a little more wise after assimilating (admittedly trivial) info.

Trivia Day is for real. Trivia Day is official. This page right here confirms it.

That page also provides some trivia tidbits I can't help but share with you because, well, like I said, I love trivia. A few of my favorites:

• Fredric Baur invented the Pringles can, and when he died in 2008, his ashes were buried in one.

• Several building in New York have their own zip code.

• The entire population of the Earth would fit in Texas.

• Captain Morgan rum was named after a Welsh pirate who later became the lieutenant governor of Jamaica.

• On Venus, it snows metal.

Warmed up for a game of Trivial Pursuit now? Nah, me neither, thanks to still trying to get my head back in the game of life after the limbo of the holidays.

Feel a tad wiser, though? Me, too!

And that, my friends, is the beauty of today's kinda sorta holiday.

Happy Trivia Day!

GRAND Social No. 188

Happy GRAND Social Day, too! Thank you for joining me for this, the very first GRAND Social of 2016!

grand social link party

How it works:

  • All grandparent bloggers are invited to add a link. You don't have to blog about grandparenting, just be a grandparent who blogs.
  • To link up a post, copy the direct URL to the specific post — new or old — that you want to share, not the link to your blog's home page. Then click the blue button below marked "Add your link" and follow the directions.
  • Those who add links to the GRAND Social link party will be sent a weekly reminder when the party goes live. If you prefer to be removed from that email list, feel free to do so (and you'll still be more than welcome to join the party any time).
  • Adding a mention such as This post linked to the GRAND Social to your linked posts is appreciated. Or, you can post the GRAND Social button anywhere on your page using the following code:
<a rel="nofollow" href="/" target="blank"><img src="" alt="Grandma’" width="125" height="125" /></a>
  • The GRAND Social linky accepts posts through Wednesday evening, so please come back to see those added after your first visit.
  • If you're not a blogger, you have the pleasure of being a reader. Those sharing a link would be honored to have you visit, read and, if so moved, leave a comment even if just "Hey, stopping by from the GRAND Social." Bloggers who link are encouraged to visit and comment on the links of other bloggers, as well.
