The Saturday Post

When it comes to going to the movies, this time of year is pretty much the very worst, in my opinion. I'm not big on blockbuster movies, the kind that pack the theaters during the summer, so it's pretty much famine time for me.

But there is one movie I'm really looking forward to. Unfortunately, it'll probably never show on a big screen near me, so I'll have to wait until it hits Netflix.

If you liked Amelie, you may be just as excited as I am for Micmacs, the next offering from Amelie creator, Jean-Pierre Jeunet. And if you didn't like the magical Amelie (are you nuts?), give this trailer a try; it's a far different tale, so maybe it will whet your appetite for Jeunet's visually stunning, heart-melting, cinematic wackiness (click to expand to full screen to get the full effect):

Micmacs opened in theaters yesterday. If you get a chance to see it, go for it! You'll be the envy of all the residents of smaller cities where cool movies rarely appear. Well, at the very least, you'll be the envy of me!
