Summer 2020: What I didn't tell you

July 25, 2020, marked the eleven year anniversary of Grandma’s Briefs. During many summers, I’ve taken a break from blogging from Memorial Day through Labor Day, to allow me time to enjoy summer fun without being obligated to publish anything.

This past summer, I chose not to take a break. I figured that with Covid restrictions and all, I’d have little to do and lots of time to write about the little I might do and see and ponder.

Well, with the passing of Labor Day, Summer 2020 is pretty much done and over with. And I’ve posted nearly nothing during that time. Blame it on the brain drain of Covid, the passing of my sister, the unexpected commitment of being asked to write a book (a much more positive reason that Covid or my beloved Becky).

Honestly, I meant to blog throughout summer. I took photos in anticipation of posting things to tell you.

Alas, regardless of all the photos, I didn’t tell you anything.

I didn’t tell you that Tyler left for Basic Training …

I didn’t tell you that Megan and Preston, Brayden, Camden, and Declan had to cancel their July visit—their first to our new home—because of Covid. Nor did I tell you Megan and Declan ended up coming that very same time frame, for my sister’s funeral.

It was nice to have our three daughters and a large portion of our family together for the first time in a long time …

And nice to spend time with Declan as he and Benjamin — my two youngest grandsons — got to know one another …

I didn’t tell you Jim, Callie, and I spent seven Thursday evenings in a row at obedience classes for our girl …

I didn’t tell you about how well Benjamin’s and James’ baby brother is growing …

I didn’t tell you how much my three long-distance grandsons are growing either …

And I didn’t tell you about my many flowers that blossomed and made The. Worst. Summer. Ever. a wee bit better …

I didn’t tell you any of that. Or any of the other stuff associated with the plethora of pics on my phone and camera.

Perhaps I will in future posts. Or maybe not.

And perhaps I’ll go back to taking a break from blogging next summer. Or maybe not.

Time will tell.

As it will for all the other matters we’ve been waiting on during this limbo lunacy of Summer 2020 … and beyond.
