Weighty matters: Yoplait Light has snacking in the bag

My husband loves candy; I have limited self-control. So when hubby pulls out the candy dish, I find it hard to resist. My husband never gains an ounce from his snacking but that's so not the case for me.

Because I've promised myself I'll cut calories and lose some weight in 2015, I came up with a super idea for an alternative to my husband's candy: Eat yogurt instead! Yoplait Light yogurt, to be specific.

Sure, I could (and sometimes do) just open up a container of any one of the luscious flavors of Yoplait Light and eat it with a spoon while hubby pops candy drops in his mouth. There are more than 20 dessert-like flavors that perfectly satisfy.

Those are a few of my favorites, but Yoplait offers 20 luscious, Yoplait Light flavors:

Apple Fritter • Apricot Mango Sorbet • Banana Cream Pie • Black Forest Cake • Blackberry • Strawberry • Blackberry Pomegranate • Blueberry Patch • Boston Cream Pie • Chocolate Cherry Cupcake • Harvest Peach • Key Lime Pie • Lemon Cream Pie • Orange Cream • Pineapple Upside Down Cake • Raspberry Cheesecake • Strawberry Shortcake • Raspberry Sorbet • Red Raspberry • Red Velvet Cupcake • Strawberries N Bananas • Strawberry Orange Sunrise

Sometimes, though, I don't need a full container of Yoplait for snacking, just a smidgen. So after perusing Pinterest, I decided to try using my cookie press to create yogurt drops.

It was so simple: I filled the cookie press with yogurt and topped with a disc I thought wouldl create a pretty drop, then plopped the drops on a waxed paper-lined cookie sheet. I froze the drops overnight then placed them all in a plastic freezer bag.

Now when the mood strikes — or when my hubby snacks on candy and I need a diversion from the candy dish — I can grab a few yogurt drops from the bag and go to town snacking on something healthy and fat-free.

Snacking on yogurt drops isn't the only way Yoplait Light helps me stick to my lo-cal goals, though. After the holidays, I had quite a bit of holiday treats leftover, and I found myself — as I didn't want them to go to waste — eating holiday breads and cookies and such for breakfast. I've now changed my ways and go for a container of Yoplait Light with fruit.

With only 90 calories in a container (2 Weight Watchers points, for those into that) — plus 0 percent fat and no aspartame — Yoplait Light outweighs holiday snacks, for sure, when it comes to lo-cal and healthy breakfasts.

Yoplait Light fills me up and keeps me on track with my goal to cut down on extra calories.

And Yoplait Light Yogurt Drops helps keep my hands out of the candy dish, as well.
