British Sterling H.I.M.: A fabulous fragrance for Father's Day gifting

My husband has long searched for a scent to call his own. Throughout our decades together he's tried this one or that, received various scents and smells as birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, Father's Day gifts and gifts to himself as he sought out a scent to perfectly please his senses — and mine. His luck was limited.

He has finally found it, though, in British Sterling H.I.M. fragrances. And I agree with him one hundred percent!

In all honesty, it's more accurate that the British Sterling H.I.M. fragrance found my husband rather than the other way around. Reason being, I received a free sample of the 'Reserve' fragrance for review. Upon opening the package, my husband and I both immediately knew it was perfect for him — and me, his primary smeller.

British Sterling Reserve

British Sterling, the iconic fragrance of the 70s with more than 50 million bottles sold, was recently re-launched as British Sterling H.I.M., inspired by the urban style and attitude of the U.K. I've never been to the U.K., but I'm quite impressed if this is how the U.K. men smell on a regular basis. Additional U.K. influence is found in the "H.I.M." designation — short for His Imperial Majesty and serving as a nod to King George VI.

British Sterling H.I.M. comes in two EDT (eau de toilette) scents: 'Private Stock' which "showcases fresh citruses combined with crisp woods, aromatic spices and rich undertones" according to the brand, and the blend I received for review, the 'Reserve' — "a provocative oriental blend of fresh citruses, bold spices and sensual woods."

I don't know if it's the bold spices or sensual woods that do it, but British Sterling H.I.M. 'Reserve' smells absolutely fabulous. I couldn't get enough of the scent once my husband confiscated the bottle for himself, so I found myself scratching that little scratch-and-sniff sticker seen in the photo above and taking whiffs off and on.

My husband doesn't have to scratch a sticker to enjoy the scent. He just sprays on the bold, long-lasting scent in the morning and enjoys it all day long. (I just hug him super hard before he leaves for work in the morning so I soak up the scent, which lasts me at least until I take my morning shower.)

Here's the clincher, the real proof of the power of the product: My husband — who typically balks at photographs — happily posed as a pitchman for the British Sterling H.I.M. 'Reserve'.

British Sterling

I'm pretty sure it's partially because he's pitching for the other scent — 'Private Stock' — for Father's Day. (Hear that, darling daughters?)

British Sterling H.I.M. EDTs are affordable, retailing for $24.99 for the 3.8 ounce sprays (available at Rite Aid, Kmart and Walmart). That makes them fabulous last-minute Father's Day gifts. Or any-day gifts. Additional British Sterling H.I.M. products — body sprays, body washes, antiperspirants, a 3-in-1 bar soap and an "advanced three-piece shave system" — will be available later this year, with prices beginning at $4.99 for the body wash.

Disclosure: I received this product for free; opinions and anecdotes (and my handsome, fabulous-smelling husband) are my own.
