Unexpected guests and GRAND Social link party No. 82

My family's annual cookie swap — which we started long before cookie exchanges were in fashion — took place yesterday at my sister's house. She lives relatively far up in the mountains, and life up there is a wee bit different than it is here in the city.

For one thing, during the holiday festivities, the neighbors came right up to the back door and begged to join our invitation-only party.

    begging deer

Needless to say, we didn't let the little beggers in.

Unlike the deer at our cookie swap, there's no need to beg to join GRAND Social No. 82 link party for grandparent bloggers. You are welcome any time! Thank you for participating!

    link party

    How it works:

    • All grandparent bloggers are invited to add a link. You don't have to blog about grandparenting, just be a grandparent who blogs.
    • To link up a post, copy the direct URL to the specific post — new or old — that you want to share, not the link to your blog's home page. Then click the blue button below marked "Add your link" and follow the directions.
    • You can add up to three posts, but no duplicates, contests, giveaways, or Etsy sites, please.
    • Adding a mention such as This post linked to the GRAND Social to your linked posts is appreciated. Or, you can post the GRAND Social button anywhere on your page using the following code:

    <a rel="nofollow" href="" target="blank"><img src=" " alt="Grandma’" width="125" height="125" /></a>

    • The GRAND Social linky accepts posts through Wednesday evening, so please come back to see those added after your first visit.

    • If you're not a blogger, you have the pleasure of being a reader. Those sharing a link would be honored to have you visit, read and, if so moved, leave a comment even if just "Hey, stopping by from the GRAND Social." Bloggers who link are encouraged to visit and comment on the links of other bloggers, as well.

Begging to get in? I'd say more like DEMANDING!
You have a lovely family tradition!

    Oh, deer....

Those deer look pretty friendly - maybe too friendly! I think one of them wants to get in that hot tub! I love cookie exchanges. I used to have one at work and it was so great to have a variety of cookies, not just 6 dozen of the same old thing! Thanks for hosting the party! Have a wonderful week!

Oh I like your neighbors so much better than some I have! I showed Richard -- made him homesick!

Thanks again for hosting. Hope you warm up soon!

The Cookie Swap was nice and it was great to see nearly all of your bunch (missed Meagan and the little guys).

Those deer were darling and the little doe was really hungry; she ate a whole loaf of raisin bread! Probably still nursing her little twins!

    Thanks for the 82nd Social!

Isn't nature grand? The best ever. P.S. Send any cookie exchange leftovers to me in NJ!

Since I'm close to the foothills and open space I see deer such as these frequently in my backyard. I am still surprised every time I see them! Your cookie swap sounds like such a fun way to get together for the holidays with you sisters and Mom, Lisa. I used to bake a lot of cookies during this time of the year but I am toning it down this season as everyone is dieting.

Oh how FUN! We used to have them run through my grandkids yard to get to the field across the street. But never this close. What a fun treat for the eyes! And what a yummy treat for the tummy with all those delicious cookies. You're way ahead of me this year for holiday delights! :) Although, my grandkids and I did have grand seasonal fun yesterday with a huge round patch of ice that they could "skate" or slide on with their shoes. Won't tell you what I ended up doing - whooooomf! :) Have a grand week!
