On age, wisdom, rocking and rolling

Today I'm one year older. I'm also wiser and more sure than ever that I definitely don't wanna die before I get old.

In fact, I hope I get to be as old as these folks — or at least as old as they were when they recorded this video in 2007:

My real hope, though, is that I not only get to be as old as The Zimmers, but that I rock and roll just as heavily and heartily as them when I get to be that age, too.

That's my plan, and I'm sticking to it.

Cheers to age, to wisdom, and to rocking and rolling!

    Today's fill-in-the-blank:

The best thing about getting older is _______________.

'The best thing about getting older is _______________." My answer is, of course, grandchildren. Loved the video. I hope your day is filled with love and wonderful surprises. Happy Birthday, Lisa!

Happy Birthday my friend! I hope it is just the best day ever and that you get lots of cake and lots of presents! Loved the video and will be singing that song all day now! Best part of getting older -- other than awesome grandchildren -- I can't think of a darned one!

Love The Zimmers and the video...what a great choice for your birthday.

The best thing about getting older is that having lived through the good, the bad, the ugly, and the awesome, you have a greater appreciation for life's joy and blessings.

I have every intention of dying before I get old, especially if I'm going to lose the memories of my loved ones. I'll celebrate and say, 'I Did it My Way' ...hope you have a wonderful day, Lisa!!

Happy birthday, Lisa. You have lots and lots of Rock and Roll years left. One of the best things about getting old is caring less about what other people think. (I'm not totally over it, but getting better.)

That's funny! Is that Pete Townsend at the end?

    This is awesome!
    Happy birthday to you!
The best thing about getting older is the knowledge gained by many years of experience. I makes me able to remember that "this too shall pass." Oh, and grandkids ... grandkids are the best!

That was great, made my morning! I agree that the best thing about getting older is Grandkids! Happy Birthday my friend.

    Happy Birthday, my sweet girl!

Getting older is made alright by seeing grown children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and knowing they are ALL going to be okay...and they are all so special! And beautiful! And funny. AND ...!

Happy Birthday, Lisa!! Loved the video! The best thing about getting older is being wiser. And grandkids, of course!

Thank you for the birthday wishes, everyone! I agree that grandkids are at the top of the list of great things about getting older. Though I certainly agree with NonnieKelly, Vicki, Jeanie and Annette on their points, too! Older, wiser, and no longer all that concerned with what others think, for sure!

Grandchildren, for sure. And being retired. Soooo many anxieties disappeared the minute I left the workplace behind.

Happy, happy birthday and many more. There are a few things good about getting older: grandkids, wearing jeans and tennis shoes and not caring that maybe I should have Dockers and dress shoes on, and not attending every argument I get invited to. The rest of the aging process requires real fortitude to deal with it. :-)

Happy Birthday, Lisa! Great video! I feel as if I'm less judgmental now.

Happy birthday Lisa. Hope you are having a great day.

Not sure at the moment if there is anything that I like about getting older. I am trying not to sweat the small stuff with Zena & Bella, sometimes easier said than done.

Brings to mind: "oh, but I was so much older then... I'm younger than that now."
