Chicken Dance Day! Plus, GRAND Social No. 255 link party for grandparents

    Chicken Dance Day!

Many grandmothers and others are merrily looking forward to Mother's Day this coming Sunday. I eagerly await Sunday as well, but for a very different reason. My sites are set on, get this, Chicken Dance Day!

Yes, friends and fellow grandparents, Sunday, May 14, 2017 is the annual celebration of that silly crowd-pleaser we all groan about doing yet do it anyway — and end up delighted we did — at wedding receptions and other family gatherings.

Because Mother's Day typically involves a bit of gathering with family to some degree, why not celebrate Chicken Dance Day at the same time? Here's a bit of inspiration — and instruction — you can use to get everyone up and clucking and chuckling:

As mothers of most sorts — those grand and otherwise — enjoy continually edifying loved ones, you can even throw in a bit of a history lesson on when (and why!) the lowly chicken dance earned its own day. One nugget o' knowledge: It began as a "Duck Dance." Get the full (s)coop right here! (See what I did there? Nugget... sCOOP... like, ya know, chicken nuggets, chicken housing.)

Whether you and yours dance the day away or simply delight in knowing the trivial truth of the merry making, I wish you happy Chicken Dance Day! More importantly, Happy Mother's Day to you, too.

Til then, let's celebrate GRAND Social Day. Hooray!

    GRAND Social No. 255

Thank you for joining me for another GRAND Social link party for grandparents! Please share your links and support one another by reading at least a few posts others have linked here, too.

    Cheers!

    grand social link party

    How it works:

    • All grandparent bloggers are invited to add a link. You don't have to blog about grandparenting, just be a grandparent who blogs.
    • Grandparents who do not blog (or want to share something other than their own post) are welcome to add links to other posts grandparent readers may be interested in.
    • To link up a post, copy the direct URL to the specific post — new or old — that you want to share, not the link to the blog or website home page. Then click the blue button below marked "Add your link" and follow the directions.
    • I reserve the right to remove posts I feel are inappropriate. (Which hasn't happened yet, but I feel obligated to note that, just in case.)
    • Those who add links to the GRAND Social link party will be sent a weekly reminder when the party goes live. If you prefer to be removed from that email list, feel free to do so (and you'll still be more than welcome to join the party any time).
    • If adding your own post, including a mention such as This post linked to the GRAND Social to your linked posts is appreciated. Or, you can post the GRAND Social button anywhere on your page using the following code:

    <div style="text-align: center;"><span class="full-image-inline ssNonEditable"><img src="http://www.grandmasbriefs.com/storage/GRANDsocialbutton.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1403499127249" alt="" /></span></div>

    • The GRAND Social linky accepts posts through Wednesday evening, so please come back to see those added after your first visit.
    • If you're not a linker, you have the pleasure of being a reader. Those sharing a link would be honored to have you visit, read and, if so moved, leave a comment even if just "Hey, stopping by from the GRAND Social." Bloggers who link are encouraged to visit and comment on the links of other bloggers, as well.

The Chicken Dance is fun! Mother's Day will have to celebrated at a later date for us this year as all the mothers in my life have prior commitments. We may do a combined Father's and Mother's Day celebration :)

Thank you Lisa for your 255th Grands Social. The Chicken Dance is a real ice breaker. Happy Mother's Day from one Grandma to another.
