The Saturday Post: Letter to my grandchildren edition
Saturday, September 8, 2012 Though the music in the following video is a wee bit, hmmm, tranquil for my taste, I do agree with nearly every one of the sentiments. Especially the mention of leftover meatloaf sandwiches—something I love but know my grandsons have missed out on...so far.
Today's question:
Which of the wishes did you find especially poignant and which (if any) do you disagree with?

I can certainly live without Amara EVER burning her hand like that! And I wished ALL of us lived where it would be safe for the little ones to walk to school...
That was a lovely video! It reminded me of my childhood. Kids nowadays are so sheltered but I know that times have changed. I agree with Grandma Kc.....I wish we lived where it would be safe for my grandkids to walk anywhere. And I agree with you....gotta have a meat loaf sandwich. I just had one yesterday for lunch!
I loved most of the video--didn't like the hand-burning one bit! I know the idea of teaching a lesson is important but I've spent too many years trying to AVOID such happening with seven children and some of 23 grandchildren, to appreciate that.
Especially loved the "...sitting on the porch w/grandparents" part because I loved doing that with my own sweet Granny. Thank you for the video (except the hand-burning part).
Can't wish many of these things on my Grandkids. I'm hoping mine will learn true appreciation through joy vs. pain and disappointment, although not sure if that's possible.
Definite ditto on Grandma Kc's comments!
I have to agree on the hand burning....I'd like for them to avoid that, but most of them probably won't. My grandkids can all walk or ride their bikes to school, but they all still have a parent along with them.
Yep, I definitely agree with you ladies on the burn. That's where the "nearly every one" came in. I do, though, think it's important to experience pain and disappointment, to make one more compassionate for others as well as to more appreciate the joy and goodness life offers. Still standing firm in wishing a leftover meatloaf sandwich upon my grandkids. (Although I think my son-in-law, who hates meatloaf, would consider that a punishment.)
