    All boy

As a mother, I had only daughters—no sons. Because of that, as a grandmother with two grandsons—no granddaughters—I relish each and every one of the all-boy moments I'm privy to. Moments such as the following, from my recent desert visit.

Challenging Gramma to go ahead and just try making him take the car out of his mouth:

And blowing raspberries each time she did...til Gramma put an end to that, too:

Figuring out one's favorite stance for rockin':

Each morning, right after breakfast, the boys immediately set to work at playing—in a surprisingly deliberate and focused fashion, showing serious commitment to the task at hand in a way I don't recall my daughters doing:

Though they did often take a break from their morning "work" to jump in their jammies:

Not exactly how my girls used to help Mom make cookies:

What could be more fun than popping bubble wrap?

    Why, this...

    ...and this, of course.

Such fun, these boys who are indeed all boy—and Gramma's all-time favorite mini-males.

    Today's question:

What recent all-boy antics have left you chuckling—or scratching your head?

Also Mom to 2 daughters and first Grandchild a girl...yes, a boy has been a learning experience for me.

My Grandson is drawn to electrical outlets, power cords, stairs, and doors that can smash tiny fingers. Although he's still in OT and PT and not walking yet, he crawls at lightning speed. Five mostly responsible adults in a room yet he managed to crawl on top of a desk in the space of 2 seconds! I ran faster than I had in 30 years.

Having both Grandkids tonight for a sleepover. Level 10 'danger alert' mode and all outlets covered ;)

Oh, these photos are so precious! I only had a daughter, also. But she's had a son and they are so different!

Those little guys are just precious, great pictures.

With two sons and five daughters, I've decided boys have to get all the fun they can as children because the biggest responsibility of providing for a family falls on their shoulders as adults; of course, there are some who don't really fill the bill and, sometimes, some of my daughters are left with the husband's responsibility in addition to their own. When she was still with us, I've sent her Father's Day cards for a chance to thank her for so many years when she had to play both roles. In a traditional world, tho', men are required to be the breadwinner, the main provider, the final authority and, God help them if they fail at it.

Thanks, ladies. Yes, boys are definitely different than girls. I'm wondering how they'll all fare in the teen years, those years that just about made me nuts with my girls—especially the one now called Mommy by these boys! (I'm thinking she needs a girl somewhere along the line, if for no other reason than payback!)

Those pictures are so cute...they are sure getting big!

My little boy is now 26 and married so I don't get to see too much of his all-boy antics anymore but a recent weekend that he was over, he still loved to play football catch in the park behind our house.

Beautiful blog and loved the post Lisa!

I need to firstly thank you for putting up my latest post in your paper (twitter) about being prepared for being a grandparent, which is what brought me to your blog. :)

You surely are blessed to have such a wonderful family with pretty daughters, and your adorable grandkids. I can see so much of happiness within them that shows that they live in an atmosphere full of love and happiness, which are essentials for a family. And these are awesome pictures that need to be treasured as well. :)

Thanks for sharing them with everyone, and for reaching out as well. Hoping to connect on Twitter with you too. :)

I have one girl and two boys. My daughter wasn't very girly so I'm thrilled that her first two children are very girly girls. :-)

I have a son and daughter so I feel ready whenever that time come to have granddaughter or grandson play-time. Having just a sister growing up, I never really understood men until I had my own 22 years ago. Now, I'm ready!

Having my grandson is a totally different experience so far. He is drawn to different things then the girls. I love watching him make play with his trucks as he makes engine noises. Your pictures are so precious :)
