    Oh, how they grow

When I visited my grandsons last weekend, it had been only two months since I'd last seen them. We all know, though, how quickly kiddos change and grow, so in those two short months Bubby and Mac changed and grew in myriad ways.

    Here are just a few:

Mac no longer sits in a high chair or needs help going up and down the (carpeted) stairs.

Bubby says things such as, "Gramma, you don't need to worry about me because I know how to use scissors now" when doing crafts and, "I'm going to build a contraption" when explaining how he plans to proceed with his play.

Mac says big words, too, at least for a 14-month-old. Words such as bubble and book, uh-oh and down, Mama and more.

Bubby no longer calls out from the bathroom, "I'm done...!" and can now wipe himself.

Mac no longer eats crayons—most of the time—and can now color with his brother.

Bubby has figured out how to do cartwheels on the trampoline.

Mac has figured out how to lie on his tummy in the bathtub—something he refused to even attempt until this past Saturday night.

Bubby has also figured out how to flatter the ladies—especially Mommy—recently delivering this perfect line after she kissed him goodnight: "Mommy, sometimes your kisses are better than snacks."

    Oh, how they grow.

One thing Mac and Bubby haven't outrown, though, is loving on and posing for pictures with Gramma.

Oh, how I hope they never do.

    Today's question:

In what ways have you recently noticed that your grandkids or kids have grown?

Adorable! Posts like this make me wish for grandkids of our own...but as our son used to say, "Not yet, pretty soon. Tomorrow in the summertime."

Oh, so true. They do grow fast, but each age has its delights.

Milo will play alone more often now and will try things that I wish he wouldn't -- like navigating the stairs alone and running headlong around the house, yard, etc. :)

What a gorgeous pic you lucky Gma!

I'm still recovering from the fact that my Granddaughter has started kindergarten.

My Grandson can say "cookie" "Nonnie" "Papa" "bye bye"...& I'm 100% convinced he said, "Wait a minute!" even though my daughter claims not physically possible at his age. Obviously, he's an early blooming genius. A Grandmother knows these things....LOL.

Lisa you are so beautiful. Of course the kiddos are darling. I miss my little ones. They are all grown now and some things they do are not so cute these days. LOL But they are loving life and either studying or working. We are hoping for a great grand soon. Blessings dear Grandma blogger.

That really is a wonderful picture of the three of you! Amara has grown so much and in so many ways -- especially in this last year. How did she get to be 8? As for noticing how she has grown -- have you seen how long those legs have gotten?!

When Tono came to Vegas for his Dad's (my older son) wedding, he seemed to have grown a foot since last time I saw him. I also noticed how clear and distinct his voice and vocabulary had become. He is very smart! Takes after his Dad for sure...

I've noted big changes in Princess E after just a week of Pre-K. She can already write her name. Her speaking has gotten much more clear. I can actually understand her quite well on the telephone. Princess J is just talking a lot more, beginning to put words together into sentences. And, she actually just goes to sleep when put to bed now. They're growing too fast.

I'm experiencing a lot through your blogs and pictures; for this great-grandmother, that's precious, I thank you.

Lines from Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof comes to mind each time:
"Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers, blossoming even as we gaze." And, " Wasn't it yesterday, when they were small?"

Lisa that is so lovely the photos just charming. Loved what Buddy said to his mother about her kisses sometimes being better than snacks, made me smile.Thank you for that.

The way that I notice that Lucy is growing is that she is more willing to help around the house, not all the time, sometimes she just doesn't want to do her chores, though that is rare. Another way I realise that she is growing is her vocabularly which is beyond her years. Think that is because she is with adults a good deal of the time and we have never ever talked baby talk to her, even when she first came to live with us. Have to share this with everyone, one day we were driving along and someone nearly hit us, Lucy said, "That was an interesting encounter!"

Since just before turning 4 yesterday, I have noticed a new complexity in the boys' thoughts and vocabulary. After a mni-tantrum in the woods last Monday over a sharing issue with his brother, I was later told, "Grandma, I'm sorry I acted like a brat out there. I just wasn't ready to share that truck with my brother."
I wonder what age he'll be when he realizes that grandma will NEVER think he's "a brat" regardless of what he does and there will NEVER be a reason for him to be forgiven by me for anything!

Love the last picture - it just needs a frame. My granddaughter use to 'play,' and now she reads constantly while having a headset on listening to every Taylor Swift CD available. I didn't think it would happen so soon - she's only 11. I guess I'd better put a smile on my face and get use to it.
