    One-word Wednesday: Bittersweet

(These words don't count, as they're in parentheses. Brianna's requested birthday cake was a Toffee-Topped Cheesecake.)

    Today's fill-in-the-blank:

A recent bittersweet moment for me was __________________.

... my Mom remembered my name although she didn't remember that I was her daughter.

P.S. Apologies. Need to break the one word rules & correct a false impression from yesterday. I can't/don't sleep in my birthday suit...GASP! what about unplanned visits from firemen/ambulance personnel? lol No way!! I have a huge collection of nightshirts with smarta$$ sayings. The older, ratty ones belong in a rag bag, but I just can't bear to part with my faves.

There. I've admitted it & now the entire web knows what I prefer to wear to bed. Tattered, torn, funny nightshirts...aw, sheesh.

Like you, we celebrated or oldest child's 30th on the 18th. That's the "sweet"...and now we prepare for our youngest to leave home. Not "bitter" so much as...happy/sad. Proud/terrified.

    Happy birthday, Brianna!

Latest bittersweet moment for me was seeing pictures of my oldest niece starting 2nd grade. Where does the time go?

(And I totally agree with you about the parentheses.)

I found it bittersweet when Katy called on Monday morning to tell me that Princess E started Pre-K3 that day. Seems like just last week she was a babe in arms.

A recent bittersweet moment for me was when I was discharged from the hospital, but they sent me home with a walker and a shower chair. I am NOT that old yet. Good news is, I don't need either one of those anymore! And I went back to work last week, Yay for me!

Hugs to all of you for sharing your bittersweet moments. I said something similar on Facebook but will say it again here: The bittersweet moments just seem to come faster and more forceful the older we get. Which is okay. Beats the alternative.

Gotta add: NonnieKelly: You are a nut! I love you for your ratty T-shirt admission. ♥ And that one word thing? Well, you don't have to abide by the one word rule. That's supposed to be for me, as the one posting. I obviously don't abide by it either.

I hope everyone's Wednesday is going well so far!

My last bittersweet moment was when Lucy turned 8, seems only yesterday that she was 2 1/2 and came into our care. Lucy had such sad big blue eyes that now sparkle with joy and complete happiness.
