    Photo replay: Hummin' along

Jim and I haven't had much luck attracting the hummingbirds this summer. Last Saturday, though, one finally visited our deck—and I was fortunate it was hungry enough to stick around while I ran to get my camera.

    Today's question:

What birds do you regularly see out your kitchen window?

I put out a hummingbird feeder with zero luck. I see them buzzing around different plants that I have in my garden. Everywhere but the feeder lol. I have a bird bath at my kitchen window and I get a lot of yellow finches. I also see small redish birds not sure what they are called. I love to bird watch. Have a wonderful Sunday Lisa.

I often times see a hummingbird in the backyard -- I have named it Ruby because when it sips from my Peruvian lily the flowers reflect on it's chest. So Pretty! The other afternoon Grampy and I were both on the patio and 2 hummingbirds just came and flitted around us and danced -- I swear they were trying to entertain us and they succeeded!

    Have a wonderful Sunday!

Hummingbirds, at my feeder. I guess up here in the higher elevations, they are not so bashful as they are in the slightly lower areas.
I also see a red-breasted robin couple a lot. And magpies, a whole family who teased my Leroy cat mercilessly until he finally killed about five of them and they moved out of the neighborhood.

Hummingbirds are my favorite! My MIL had several feeders outside her dining room window back in Ohio. I used to sit at the table and watch them intently, for hours. It was much better than trying to make polite conversation in the den. LOL Here in Vegas, I see birds but I don't know what they are. i saw a gorgeous red one a couple weeks ago and couldn't help wondering if he had enough water. You think about water a lot here in the desert, or the lack thereof.
Have a lovely Sunday, my friend!

Beautiful picture! I live near a school park so I get to see alot of birds......mostly sparrows, magpies, crows and sometimes prettier birds but I don't know what they are. The bigger black birds like to make a mess of my decorative bark around my small trees.

Wonderful photo. We have hummingbirds and feel fortunate whenever we see one.

Mountain bluebirds, Blue Jays, Hummingbirds, and Robins. I never tire of any of them.

    Great photo Lisa.

From our kitchen window we see sparrows, tuis, fantails and sometimes wax eyes.

We have a little pond, so I see a lot of finches, blue jays, and cardinals.

Beautiful picture! We do get hummingbirds by our deck frequently. I tend to plant red flowers since I believe they are attracted to the bright color. My red wigela shrub really brings them out in the early summer and the asiatic liles seem too draw them too. We also get a lot of bullfinches.

Beautiful picture Lisa! Wow! I had a hummingbird buzzing around me in the garden last week. No camera of course, but quite an experience watching how hard they are working. Thanks for sharing a beautiful moment.

My neighbors feed the hummingbirds, so we benefit from their efforts and get to see lots of hummers. This time of year we get lots of hawks. We live very near the wetlands where migratory birds stop when they are headed north or south. Hawk Watch International does an annual count of hawks right in our neighborhood park. Last year, they counted more than a million. Bird watchers actually come to the park by the busload.
