5 places I'd rather not be

I shy away from frequenting sites where the blogger complains day in and day out about his or her lot in life. Yeah, life kinda sucks at times, but <cussing> and moaning about it doesn't make things any more enjoyable. For anyone.

Because I feel that way about reading such blogs, I do my best to not be a big ol' complainer here on Grandma's Briefs.

    Except today.

Accuse me of being a crab, of having a double standard, but today I must <cuss> and I must moan. Because I've had enough. I simply cannot take it any longer. At least not quietly.

    I'm talking about the heat.

I seriously cannot take the dreadful heat of this summer not one second longer. I. Have. Had. Enough. Truly enough. More than enough. I've had it up to here with the heat and have been racking my brain to come up with somewhere to run, somewhere to go to escape the crazy high temps that are making me crabby.

Being the Negative Nancy I am, though—because of the <cussing> heat!—I can't come up with any place cool to go. I can only come up with worse places, places I'd rather not be.

From the Debbie Downer depths where I currently dwell, here are those places:

Five places I'd rather not be

    1. I'd rather not be, believe it or not, visiting my grandsons. It's even hotter in their hometown than it is mine. The photo Megan texted me yesterday of the guage on her car dashboard proves it:

    2. I'd rather not be anywhere east of Colorado. Crossing the border into Kansas and beyond means there's humidity—for which even the presence of ever-so-lovely, ever-so-coveted lightning bugs isn't adequate consolation.

    3. I'd rather not be working in an office with air conditioning. What? Who wouldn't want to be paid and cooled all at the same time? Meh... Getting a regular paycheck is overrated, I say—especially if you have to wear panty hose and closed-toe shoes while earning it.

    4. I'd rather not be in Afghanistan. Or Syria. Or anywhere in the Middle East.

    5. I'd rather not be on the west side either. The west side of my own city, that is, in the part of town where many folks who once did have air-conditioning now don't even have a home, thanks to the Waldo Canyon fire.

I'll stop there. No need to continue. I feel better now. I'm definitely not any cooler, but I do feel better.

How could I not? For things could be worse. Far worse. And are. For too many.

    Enough said.

    Today's question:

Where would you rather be...or not be...in hopes of escaping the crazy heat?

    AMEN Crabby! :)

So yesterday we were to get cooler temps and some rain. Have only had 1/2 day of scattered rain once in the last week which was probably the first in weeks. ANYHOW...at work, it clouds up and the wind kicks in and we shut our car windows and it blows over. Not one drop.
Going home later I am driving into dark ominous skies. YAY it's going to rain at my house! Hurry up and get the dogs out before the rain hits. Feed them etc. It's dark, the thunder rumbles .....this goes on and on and on and no rain

I know that it has rained here and there around our area but nada where I work and nada in my community, ugh.

I'd rather not be an employee who has had to deal with this ongoing heat for days on end risking personal health vs. job loss. Stay safe and hydrated! Employers please value your employees as much as your bottom line.

I'm pretty sure I could deal with high temps much better if I was beachfront with a Gulf breeze and an air conditioned condo. If nothing else, I'd have a better view than the heat rising off the asphalt in Chicagoland. And yep, the humidity is awful here.

So grateful I was born in a century with air conditioning!

I'd rather not be sick in bed. But if I have to be sick, I'd rather be in a cushy suite with a private nurse taking care of me. I'm not crabby, just whiny!

I'd love to be in Hawaii right now. That would be a little slice of heaven.

I think I am staying put -- and you're welcome to come visit! Our area of southern California has been so lucky this year -- just warm and mild. It is supposed to be 80 for the next 5 days. I can deal with 80! Just turn on a fan and (yeah!) ignore the air conditioner! Don't hate me but we have only had to turn it on once this year -- and I do know how lucky we are to have ti for when we do need it.

I agree that the heat has been pretty bad, but I have to honestly say that I would rather be in this heat than in February with knee deep snow.

I'd rather not be in Wisconsin in the winter..........71/2 years of digging out of piles and piles of snow made me promise not to complain about the heat........however this summer has made it hard to keep that promise!

I'd rather NOT be back and forth between Minnesota and Wisconsin (like I was for 16 years); the weather there ranges between soul-chilling cold with snow and muggy hot (short) summers with mosquitoes and biting deer flies the size of helicopters.

I have to agree....I've had enough too, heat that is. How many more days till fall?

I have been following the weather all over the place this summer, and have decided that I am in the perfect place. It is rather chilly here at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I have to wear a sweater. But, I look at the temps in Georgia, and know that with the humidity added in, I would be wilting if I was at home. I sincerely hope the temps drop for you soon.

Oh my it must be absolutely dreadful, do hope that it cools down soon for everyone.

As it's winter in New Zealand and Wellington (aka wet, windy Wellington) can get very cold. I would like to be on a lovely tropical island doing absolutely nothing.

I'm sick of my winter clothes, I'm sick of the dreadful winds, I'm sick of the rain

I'd rather be in the mountains of NH instead of the seacoast area because it cools down at night enough where you can actually open the windows. And, having lived in Kansas for many, many years, don't cross the border.

I can't blame you for being crabby with this heat.....it's making me crabby too! I'd rather be on/in the beach in Hawaii, cooling off! In a few more days I will be in the desert heat too....I must be a gluten for punishment.

I would rather not be anywhere outside of my air conditioned house. It's always hot here, but at least we have air conditioning. Come on down to South Texas. It's hotter than hell-o and the humidity is always above 90%. But you can stay in my air conditioned guest room and we can just sit in the a/c all day long.
