    The Saturday Post: Grandma-roots-for-Adele edition

The Grammy Awards are tomorrow. Though I don't typically watch them, I just might this time. Because of Adele. I want to see her first major performance since having surgery on her vocal chords in November, and I want to see her win. The breathtakingly talented and beautiful 23-year-old (23!) is nominated for six Grammys.

Adele garnered three nominations—Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Short Form Music Video—for this song and video:

And she's nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for this song:

Rounding out the six are Adele's nominations for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for 21.

I hope she makes a sweep of it, walking away with the Grammy in every category she's been nominated.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll be watching—and definitely rooting for awesome Adele.

    Today's question:

Who and what are some of your current favorite artists and songs?

I thought about using a fake name to answer, but what the heck... I'm honest if nothing else.

Lady Gaga is the current artist of choice.

My Granddaughter loves to dance and she especially loves to dance to Lady Gaga's music. We've spent more than a few hours together shaking it together to her Lady Gaga CDs. Fun times!

However, my heart (only in terms of dance music) will always belong to Madonna and disco...

That is a great song! Have to check out more of her music. I am not too savy about music, but I love another young twenty something named Francesca Battistelli - she's a Christian singer with an old soul sounding voice as well. You can check her out here...

Hate to admit, but I also love the Gaga, other than the whole meat dress. Wha?

I haven't watched the Grammys in years, but plan to this time for the same reasons as you. Go Adele!

I listen to just about anything these days, but I'll always choose Bon Jovi first!

I rarely listen to music. I'm more of a talk radio or audible book listener. I really like Adele. But mostly I listen to Bob Dylan, Sarah McLachlan, Carole King, and Alison Krauss or to Broadway Show Tunes. I don't really know any of the current performers.

Love Adele she is real talent and seems to be a really together person as well I am also rooting for her.I also loved Amy Winehouse (RIP) so glad Adele does not seem to be on that same path Grams I listen to some of the same music as you :)

I, too, am wishing Adele good luck; she has the most beautiful voice. Too many of the others who will be on the Grammys all remind me of what my Granny used to say, "If THAT'S music, the woods is full of it." I have no idea of what that's supposed to mean but, when performers are screaming and screeching their lyrics, I can't understand them at all.

I listen to country stations because I CAN understand them when they sing.

I love Adele too and may watch the Grammy's just to watch her and maybe Kelly Clarkson. I try to be open minded with some of the other stuff that goes on that show but don't particularly like it. I like Taylor Swift......my 10 yr old granddaughter loves her and can sing all her songs!

I heard the song "Someone Like You" just this week, and in looking up its lyrics I came across a heartfelt blog by a young guy who'd just spent hours in the dark, crying over this song. Turned out he was dying, leaving a wife and kids. "Sometimes it lasts in love and sometimes it hurts instead." He died shortly after that post. Now I'm totally hung up on the song and I've come to love Adele, too.

Those were wonderful! I have always loved strong female singers - Linda Ronstadt, Cher, Carly Simon, Carol King, Madonna, Britney Spears, Bonnie Raitt and so many others. Of course you can never go wrong with The Eagles, The Beatles or the Rolling Stones!

She is quite Amazing! I can feel the power of her emotions come through her voice. Rooting for her as well. Seems that you and I listen to pretty much the same music, but add Shawn Mullins in the mix as well.

I am watching the awards remembering wonderful Whitney Houston. In her heyday she was one of my favorites.

This is one of the best shows I have seen. I like Gaga and Adele, I am looking forward to seeing the Beach Boys and Paul McCartney.

My favorite music has always been Broadway but lately I have been listening to a lot of Classical. My current favorites are Haydn, Mozart and Bach. (I am definitely a late bloomer with this genre.)
