7 perfect things: My week in review
I have a tendency to focus on things that need improvement, ways I need to be better to make my life better. Not today, though. Today I'm taking a different tack and focusing on ways my life is already pretty darn good. Perfect, in fact—at least this past week, at least in these seven ways:
My bed sheets. I love my sheets. Don't ask me the thread count because I have no idea. I just know that each time I've pulled back my comforter this week, the color (a dusty purple of sorts) and the comfort when I climb in warms my heart.
Bedside stack o' books. I read before falling asleep, and my current "to read" stack is one of the best I've had in a while. Featured: The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman; Life Itself by Roger Ebert; Freedom by Jonathan Franzen; Labor Day by Joyce Maynard. Now if I could just stay awake long enough to get through the two I currently have in process—non-fiction courtesy Connie Schultz and fiction from Amy Hatvany—so I could delve into that stack. (Must be the afore-mentioned bed sheets sending me straight to slumber.)
Jim's continued support of my non-traditional career choice. My husband is my No. 1 fan and that helps in more ways than I usually tell him. Especially during times...<clears throat>...like this week....when I consider throwing in the towel and getting an office job.
Alcatraz. The new series featuring Hurley, er, Jorge Garcia and produced by Mr. Lost himself (J.J. Abrams for those who didn't succumb to Lost) premiered this week. It was thoroughly enjoyable, intriguing, and indicative of good things to come.
Clementines & kiwis. This week's bowl of fruit has been especially sweet. And perfect.
My new camera. I've not yet perfected even the smallest degree of its functions and potential, but the camera itself is perfect, and I'm so pleased with what I've been able to do with it so far, including the one above of Wednesday's sunset.
"The Sweetheart" jeans from Old Navy. Sure, they're hand-me-downs from Megan when she started losing all her weight, but they're broken in, they're soft, they're comfy as <cuss>. I love these jeans. And I think I look pretty darn okay in them to boot.
Today's question:
What was perfect for you this past week?

The weather this past week was absolutely perfect for January in Illinois.
I'm trying to focus on that instead of the snowstorm headed our way.
Hearing my grandson read to his grandfather- overcoming the challenge of dyslexia, one beautiful word at a time.
Gwen: I love that! How truly perfect and sweet.
My daughter was perfect! I was at work Wednesday when I got an email with a photo attached. It was a cute dress. She was at JCP, it was a size 8 and it was on clearance for $12. Did I want it? Awesome! I have my own personal shopper and I got to wear a new dress to work yesterday. I am very lucky!
Grandma Kc: That is indeed perfect—not only the $12 dress (woo-hoo!) but your kind and thoughtful daughter! I bet you looked awesome in the find!
I'm so happy for all you girls who had one or more things happen this past week that you feel was/were perfect! And you all felt grateful for them. Maybe next week will be MY week for some "perfect" things to happen.
I have to check Alcatraz out. It looks like a good one. Nothing perfect for me this week. I was happy to see American Idol on again. And my job's going ok. That's good right?
Ann & Terri: Oh, I bet there was SOMEthing. Ya just gotta look at it different. (C'mon, I chose BEDSHEETS!) What about a perfect cup of coffee? A perfect cuddle with a cat? We all have moments of perfection that we too easily dismiss or fail to see at all. Believe me: I had to dig deep for mine, but they're there.
LISA: You're right! I did have a number of perfect cuddles with my Leroy, AFTER he scared me half to death, bounding from the floor without warning and snuggled his sweet little head (forcefully) up under my chin and all around my face. Perfect... after I realized the floor had not exploded.
I love a new stack of books, and I got four new ones from the library this week! Spent the last two nights working my way through Alexander McCall Smith's latest Isabel Dalhousie novel - they're set in Edinburgh and even though I've never been there, I could just eat that place up. Reading on a cold winter evening is what I call a true joy!
It always feels perfect to find a really good book to read.....I have a couple of them right now.
I have a pair of those sweetheart jeans ... best jeans ever!
As for perfect, on Thursday I met my sister halfway between our houses in the very small town of Beeville. We had lunch, went dollar store shopping, and just generally spent time together. It was perfect. We hadn't seen each other since September. That's too long.
I love the photo! So pretty. What are you using for editing? I have no photo editing on my laptop and am considering getting PS Elements. Just wondering what you are using and if you like it.
I'm so bummed I forgot to set the DVR to record Alcatraz. I'll have to watch the premier online and set the rest to record. It looks like it will be a good show.
