8 signs fall is nearly here

COMING THIS FALL!1. I had to throw on a sweater over my jammies while watching TV last night.

    2. The USAFA Thunderbird jets have been loudly cavorting overhead, practicing for their shows of support during Air Force Falcon football games.

    3. Visions of pumpkin bread have started dancing in my head.

    4. Windows throughout the house are no longer left open at night.

    5. Piles of catalogs arrive in the mail each day as retailers rally for holiday dollars.

    6. Fall crafts are on clearance at Hobby Lobby as, typical of craft stores, current season decor is so last month.

    7. I've given up watering annuals in the yard—flowers that never grew well, many that never even flowered at all, thanks to the blistering, record-setting heat of this past summer.

    8. Best of all: Megan is lonesome for home...and has planned a trip here with Bubby and Baby Mac in a few weeks because fall is her favorite time of year in Colorado.

    Mine, too!

    Today's question:

What signals have you experienced of fall's impending arrival?

I LOVE fall in the Rockies.

Pumpkin Spice Latte is back at Starbucks!

The weather the last few days has certainly been a sign that fall is coming, but now you have me thinking about pumpkin bread. My two oldest kids both have September birthdays (my daughter's is today) so that always signals fall to me also.
I'm glad you have the upcoming visit to look forward to.

Some of those things you do have started happening around here like closing windows that had been open all summer, donning a sweater at night, even tapping a couple of taps to click the furnace two degrees upward a couple of times. Having fall on the way is nice after too much heat during the summer this year.

So glad Megan's coming with with those two little guys for an unexpected visit, Yahoo!

Well -- none of that is happening here right now! We had a very mild summer and are currently making up for it! 98 yesterday -- supposed to be 102 today......

But I have to say Fall was one of the things I *did* like about living in Michigan. I loved crunching leaves under my feet. THAT is something that never happens here.

SO glad you are going to get to see Megan and the boys again so soon!

Nothing yet in our Italian mediterranean climate. Days still in the mid 80's, nights in the 70's. Went to dinner last night and strolled by the sea afterwards, all in shirtsleeves. I'm loving it while it lasts.

    I love fall!
We finally got temps below 100 for a couple days, so I know fall is coming. And then there's football! Also, I bought my annual bottle of Baileys Irish Creme. That's a fall thing for me for sure. Once the evenings start cooling off, I like a cup of coffee with Bailey's now and then.

I forgot to close the windows last night and froze to death. believe it or not we've already got some leaves changing colors. the biggest indicator is that my little ones have all gone back to school--thank heavens for baby hiccup! I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have a baby in the house. Enjoy your visit with your munchkins.

Fall is my favorite season too. I took down my bedroom window air conditioner and am now sleeping with my window open a little...I love it!

    WOW, pumpkin spice latte's already!

Autumn as it is called in New Zealand is not the same as in the States. The leaves don't turn the vivid orange and yellows; here they just turn red and fall off the trees.

Spring is just around the corner, I love seeing the tress get their new leaves and my favourite bird the “Tui” starts whistling his magical tune. Out with the winter clothes on with the lighter more colourful clothing, do wish it would get warmer then it would be off with the heaters that have churned away all winter.

Our temperatures have actually been dropping into the 70s overnight. That's the best sign. Daytime temps are holding in the 90s, but that's better than 100s. I've been thinking about baking pumpkin, cranberry, pecan muffins and making soups and stews. Realistically, cooler weather is still 4-6 weeks away for us.

I love your list and I LOVE Fall... We are seeing no sign of it here. It's sunny and warm and I'm loving it. Our Summer seems to have shifted this year. Didn't really start Summer until August, so I'm happy for it to go long.
