    Wisdom and wit

While Pinterest, my latest social media obsession, may be the mecca of all things crafty and oh-so-worth cooking, it's also an awesome spot for finding words of insight and inspiration. And you know how I love words...especially in the form of quotes. (And if you didn't know, well, now you do. See? You learn something new every single day here on Grandma's Briefs.)

Here for your reading pleasure are some recently discovered words of wisdom and wit, pinned for future pondering on my Pinterest board titled Food for Thought (attribution given when available):

What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday.

It isn't that I'm not a people person, I'm just not a stupid people person.

Girls are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right boy to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.

(Mothers of daughters, tell your daughters that one. Often. Mothers of sons, urge your sons to be brave. Always.)

You gotta stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone oughta be. ~Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. ~Albert Einstein

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me." ~Erma Bombeck

Success isn't just about what you accomplish in your life, it's about what you inspire others to do.

PS: If you tried to join Pinterest and were told you've been added to the waitlist, email me and I'll send you an invitation that should allow you to bypass the wait...no strings attached.

These are great! I miss Erma Bombeck so much.

I'm on Pinterest but despite great instructions from a good friend I haven't yet been able to figure out how to do much with it. arrghh!

I turn to many people for wisdom and wit. Usually family and friends. However, I also turn to this blog. I love to return the next day and read all the comments from the day before. Thanks everyone for sharing your wit and wisdom...and thanks Lisa for writing thought provoking posts.

you tempt me to try pinterest as I have always loved places that comple quotes. I get most of my quotes from goodreads.

Like the other Nonnie Kelly, this blog is the first thing I look at each morning and it's where I get my inspiration (you and your commenters are all so SMART). I guess I thought my Heavenly Father would just sneak some wisdom and wit into my brain while I was sleeping sometime during such a long life but it appears I'll have to do some seeking those things on my owni There now, THAT'S a wise and witty thought, right?

You know I LOVE Pinterest, Lisa, and the quotes I keep on my "WORDS" board all also speak to me! :)

I thought I had a lot of pins, but I'm finding people who have 30 -50 thousand!! Yikes! I am trying to be more selective and pin only ones I truly like and will try to use or cook from. I think recipes are my favorite pins :)

Did you get the e-mail from BlogHer atoday bout the Penguin book writers conference in NYC Oct 21I thought of you immediately and your desire to write a children's book!

I haven't ventured into Pinterest yet, for fear I'd be addicted to yet another app. I do love the idea of wit and wisdom's though. I get mine from a lot of reading, but also from my blog friends like you, Lisa.

I like The Quote Garden I use them on my site. It's well worth a look at Lisa.

Those are great quotes! I especially love the one about not being a "stupid people person" and the Einstein quote. I get my inspiration from other bloggers!! :)

Pinterest seems to be going viral. I'm not going there because I can't afford any more electronic diversions. But I did enjoy the quotations, especially the one comparing girls and apples. I'm sending it to my gorgeous granddaughter who was bummed because she didn't have a date for Homecoming.
