    I swore I'd never

I swore I'd never blog. Too self-involved, too navel gazing for me.

    Yet, here I am.

I swore I'd never join Facebook. Too many people wanting to be friends with someone (that'd be me) who's not really all that friendly.

Yet, you can find me on Facebook...in not just one place but two: personal and bloggy FB pages.

I swore I'd never join Twitter. Too silly and psycho with all that personal disclosure of little import streaming by.

Yet, you can find me there daily, tooting and tweeting as @GrandmasBriefs.

I swore I'd never post videos on YouTube. Too many bad videos of kids hiding out in their bedrooms creating snippets of stuff their parents should ground them the rest of their lives for doing.

Yet, I not only visit it often, I regularly share videos from there and, get this, even have my own YouTube channel.

I swore I'd never join Pinterest...mostly because I didn't understand what the <cuss> it was.

Yet now I'm pinning and pining away on Pinterest...far more often than I should be...am far more in love with it, am more obsessed with it, than I should be.

I swore I'd never win Publishers Clearing House.

WAIT! That's not true! I've sworn again and again and again, for years and years and years, that I was going to win PCH!

I think I get it now: All these years, I have taken the wrong route to reward with PCH, using positive declarations and visualization techniques in hopes of seeing the Prize Patrol Van show up in my driveway.

High time to change all that.

I swear I'll never win PCH...I swear I'll never win PCH...I swear I'll never win PCH...I swear I'll never win PCH...I swear I'll never win PCH...I swear I'll never win PCH...I swear I'll never win PCH...I swear I'll never win PCH...

    Today's fill-in-the-blank:

    I swore I'd never ____________, yet now I'm _______________.

I swore I'd never have kids, yet here I am, crazy in love with my baby.

I like the idea of swearing you'll never so you will.

    :)

I try to never say never, but catch myself at it. I am actually very impressed with your technical skills, Lisa. I have been meaning to ask you how you made that canvas bag with your "Grandmas Briefs" logo on it. A tutorial, perhaps?

I think it is important that as we get older we embrace technology and learning as much as possible so our brains don't rust away. One of the reasons I love reading your blog is you are involved with the different areas you talk about in your post such as You Tube, and your different photo postings.

Oh, and thanks for visiting my blog:)

    Take care,

    Mer

I still haven't tried the pinterest. I hear nothing but rave reviews though.

And Lisa, IF or WHEN you win PCH, just remember what good friends we are. LOL

I'd never even master the computer, yet now I'm blogging regularly and finding it one of the most meaningful things I do. Amazing!

I swore I'd never get on facebook but now I'm on it everyday. I think it's cool that you're into all this new (new to me) stuff. I don't even know what pinterest is.

I blame my kids . . . they are always after me to try new things. I wouldn't even be blogging if it weren't for them pushing me into it. I'm glad you are blogging :)

I swore I did not want kids. But now I have not only kids but grand kids! Amazing!

I don't do much stuff that you referred to but never swore I'd never do it. I click into Facebook to see what's going on with family, comment once in a while, check out what's posted on Grandma's Briefs first thing every day and go into Yahoo News, World, and even the boring stuff on Local. Swearing I'd never do anything would be redundant; I'm too old to do anything I've not already been doing for fifty or more years but I do like seeing what all the younger world is doing electronically. Being old makes me think that a lot of it is just repeating oneself, just doing it is a lot of different places. Why...to reach a different audience? Oh, well, I'll NEVER understand it all.

LOL! I loved the way you wrote this post, Lisa! I am turning into a Pinterest addict --HELP! I think it appeals to my habit of ripping out photo, recipes and articles I enjoyed from magazines over the years ---now I can do that electronically for blogs and web site through Pinterest. ;) Did I mention I have over 3,000 pins?? Now I have to put them to use...I followed a tutorial on how to revive a dishwasher with good results, and I've tried a few recipes, and I'd like to try a few crafts with the grandboys when i see them next.

I think I'd say i thought I'd never leave NYC but now that both my kids live in Colorado, well...who knows what will happen in a few years when my hubby retires?? :)

Hahahaha, you are hilarious! I swore I'd never have kids, by the time I was 33, I had 2, haha!

I swore that I would never be able to write a book, yet I did & a publishing house wants to publish it.

Great post Lisa, you always inspire me to think outside the box. Never heard of Pinterest, must do so research.

How funny, I did a post on reverse prayerology. It seems to work more often than the positive declaraitons and pleading on my knees. Reverse Prayerology

heeheehee - you're SO funny :D I may have to change my PCH technique to match yours :)

I must admit though it probably wouldn't work for me, I love Facebook, blogging (though I never seem to have time for it anymore ;( and totally could spend forever pinning and pinning - such lucious looking things on there!
