    Everyone's a winner on my two-year blogiversary!

Grandma's Briefs is two years old!

On July 25, 2009, I launched Grandma's Briefs, my space for sharing brief—and some not-so-brief—ramblings, with THIS. It didn't get a single comment.

Undeterred, I plodded away as if what I had to say mattered. Every day I'd post, every day I saw more and more visitors stopping by to read those posts. Some would even comment. Eventually I felt like what I had to say really did matter. YOU made me feel like what I had to say mattered...and continues to matter.

There's no doubt that Grandma's Briefs made it to the two-year mark because of you, the readers. Without you, I'd have quit long ago. And I'd like to show my appreciation for that with a gift.

Every person who comments to this post through July 31 will be entered in a random drawing for a Grandma's Briefs canvas tote filled with goodies the little ones in your life will enjoy, goodies that correspond to the little ones in my life. Meaning, of course, Bubby and Mac. What could such goodies be? Well, no profundity here, I assure you, but in honor of Bubby there are bubbles, and in honor of Mac there is mac & cheese.

Yes, indeed, a Grandma's Briefs/Bubby and Mac goodie bag for one lucky winner:

But wait, there's more. I've also thrown in five books I received for review in the past year. Just for you, not the kiddos. I think you'll like them. I did.

But wait, there's even more: Only one person will win the goodie bag, but every person who comments will be a winner by making a difference in the lives of hungry children. And how's that? Well, for every comment this post receives through July 31, I will donate $2 (because, ya know, Grandma's Briefs is TWO) to either the No Kid Hungry/Share Our Strength campaign or the UNICEF/Crisis in the Horn of Africa program. The winner of the goodie bag will choose which cause shall receive the funds, in the name of Grandma's Briefs.

So here's all you need to do: Comment on this post. Yep, that easy. The more comments, the larger the donation. Plus, you'll be entered into the drawing for the Grandma's Briefs/Bubby & Mac goodie bag.

Comment to this post by midnight MDT July 31 answering the following two questions (two because, ya know, Grandma's Briefs is TWO):

    1. What Grandma's Briefs post of the past year was memorable for you, made a difference to you, mattered to you...or made you grunt, groan, or snicker? (No need for specific post title; just boost my ego by mentioning what you recall as the gist o' the thing).

    2. If chosen as the winner of the Grandma's Briefs/Bubby & Mac goodie bag, which cause would you like the $2-per-comment donation to be given: the No Kid Hungry/Share Our Strength campaign or the UNICEF/Crisis in the Horn of Africa program?

Only one comment per person, please. Be sure to include your e-mail address when commenting (no one sees it but me) so I can contact you if you're the winner. Winner will be chosen by Random.org Monday, Aug. 1 and contacted by e-mail. Prize will be shipped to U.S. addressee only.

Thank you for two fabulous years! I look forward to the third and sharing it with you—people who matter to me, people who make a difference in my world!

Congratulations! Isn't it amazing how fast two years can go by? I think I blogged for about 6 months before I ever got comments.

I love the stories about your time with little Bubby. We grandmas have to soak up every second we get with them.

Also you wrote about some being a grandma rules...(not sure of the title) but I loved that and I did agree with the things you wrote about.

I love the No Kid Hungry program.

Have a great day...keep on grillin'

    Hi Lisa!

Happy Blogoversary!! I am so glad you are here! I looked back on your postings to see which has been my favorite so far, and I think it is "The Things we do for Love." So many of your posts make me laugh and tear up and the pictures of your grandsons are always precious.

If I win, I think I like Hungry/Share our Strength Campaign.

I am looking forward to your 10th blogoversary!

    Take care,

    Mer

Question number 1: Mine! LOL And why? Because you cared enough to include me and I'd never been on a Blog before. It's what started MY blogging career, and I'm almost up to my one year blog anniversary! So thank you, my friend!

Question number 2: No kid hungry/share our strength campaign

Happy Blogiversary Deeaarrr Lisssaaa, Happy Blogiversary to you (and many more!)

    1) So many posts have touched my heart, but I really enjoyed the one about room in your heart for another Grandbaby.

    2) I'm a typical Gemini..torn between the two...so I would split the donation between both organizations.

Keep the posts coming, Lisa. You're an awesome writer...

Question 1: As a recent member I have not read many of the posts yet but have loved all that I have read. Glad you are out here and when you posted teen Lisa it made me get out my yearbook and have a good laugh.

Question 2: As for the charity it would be No Kid Hungry.

If by some fluke it is my name drawn I would Love the tote, but would request the bubbles go to the Marines Toys for Tots and the Mac n Cheese to a local food bank. My Grand’s are too far away to enjoy.

    July 25, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLorinda

You did it, girl! Stick-to-it-iveness has always been one of your strong suits! Congratulations.

Of many posts of yours, I've most loved your "Dreams for my grandson".

I'd love to win the bag of goodies, partly because the bag itself is the cutest thing ever. No Kid Hungry would be my charity of choice.

Thanks for the many days you've started me out with something to think deeply about.

Happy Anniversary Lisa!! You do an awesome job! Your posts either leave me giggling or thinking really hard! Keep up the great work.

Q1 -- of course when you grilled me, that was pretty darned cool! My 2nd favorite post was the Black Swan. Talk about making me think!

Q2 No kid Hungry. There are way to many kids going hungry.

Thanks for being here for all of us.

Happy Blogiversary, Lisa! I love the posts about your own grandma. (I always like posts that are personal.)

My vote -- if I win the fabulous prize package -- is for the donations to go to No Kid Hungry/Share Our Strength campaign.

Happy Blogiversary, my friend. I knew back when you worked at FMCC that your talents were wasted there and that writing was your true calling.

I really felt honored when you Grandma Grilled me on your blog. I can't think of any one post that was a favorite as they all either made me cry, laugh and reflect. I really do enjoy reading your posts to start my day! If I win, No Kid Hungry would be my charity.

    July 25, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDebbie E.

I agree with Pam. Your post about your grandmother touched me, especially when you spoke about the place she'd left off in her book. I think it was a puzzle book? That resonated with me.

And I vote for No Kid Hungry.

    July 25, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKate

    Congratulations on the two-year mark!

I enjoy reading your posts about how you keep in touch with the grandkids, even though they're long distance. One set of my kids grandparents are long-distance too, and I think it's true that one set tends to feel neglected or left out of the loop because they aren't there for the day-to-day stuff.

I also like reading the book reviews. I'm always looking for good books to add to my list of "Want to read."

Either charity would be fine with me, re: a donation of food. I'm ok with you choosing one. I trust you :-)

Well...I've ENJOYED your grandma stories and how you really enjoy being grandma! Stories about Bubby and Baby Mac are so fun to read. I don't get to see my grandson but once a year and so love your posts. Keep it up and all the support you give to other bloggers too!

    July 25, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPam

Happy Blogiversary. I think your most meaningful post of the year was the one where you talked about how you "obeyed" the rules by not visiting when Mac was born, but the other grandmother didn't. That really hit home for me and made me think about the relationships we have with our daughters and the relationships they have with their in-laws ... often challenging.

I would choose the No Kid Hungry/Share Our Strength campaign.

    July 25, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterGrams

Congratulations on two years of blogging! I really loved your HGTV'ed video post! And of course I love every single post about your grandbabies! I would pick No Kid Hungry/Share Our Strength campaign to give to. Keep up the great posting, I really enjoy reading what you have to say!

    July 25, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTammy

First let me say Congratulations on your 2 year blogiversary. I would choose the No Kid Hungry cause. As for the post I would have to choose the one where it was painful for you not being with your daughter when you wanted to be after the new baby was born. It broke my heart and had me crying for you and I just had to share some things with you to try to help you feel better about the situation. You are the kind of Grandma I wish I would have had when I was a child without any grandparents. May I include another thing I love about your blog. You always ask a question to get us thinking and I really like getting my mind to thinking when it stalls on me. forgetfulaliceatgmaildotcom. P.S. I wish you many more and better years blogging and thousands of followers.

Happy anniversary, Lisa! I loved your blog the first time I read it. You make me think even when I don't want to! One of my favorite posts was the one where you talked about being real and authentic and not having technicolor bm's.

I would choose the crisis in Africa program.

    Keep on bloggin'!

    Happy blogiversary!

Giving a donation to making a difference in the lives of hungry children. As always, I am so impressed with what you come up with.

Your post about the mailbox that you made for Bubby left me in awe of your creativity and cleverness. Now that my grandchildren are a wee bit older, I'm going to hunt down cute mailboxes so I can replicate your idea!

And if chosen, I would like the donation to go to No Hungry Kid/Share Our Strength campaign.

    July 25, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNina Lewis

    Happy Blogiversary, Lisa!!!!
My favorite post was when Baby Mac was born... I cried and was so thrilled for you when you described his birth. What a proud grandma you were that day -- not that you weren't before because Bubby is too cute for words! Maybe I wanted another one a that time - don't know what was wrong with me, but I just remember reading the post, seeing his cute little face ... and crying! I was SO happy for you!
And I am a UNICEF fan! so donate away WHEN i win - lol ;0
you are awesome for donating in your blog's honor for your blogiversary - i think it's a great idea and i hope to get there and do the same thing! :)

    July 26, 2011 | Unregistered Commentersteph

Happy Annivesary!!! I've been away for a while, but I'm glad I made it back to internet world in time to catch your birthday party. That's so exciting!

As to the questions... I think the post I remember most recently, was about you getting an iphone. But then I remember one a long time ago that had a picture of your door. And for some reason I remember that. weird, huh?

As for the charity, I'd choose, No Kid Hungry.

Ps. Is it bad that if I win, I keep all the goodies for myself and don't give them to any kids?

    July 26, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSuzRocks

well I'd enter just to have the bag :D congratulations!!! I just like to check in whenever I get a minute to see how another grandma feels about being a grandma. I also enjoy our correspondence through e-mail. I hate to see kids go hungry so I'm voting for the first charity.

    July 26, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterkaye

Congratulations Lisa what a remarkable achievement and you should be so proud of what you have done over the past two years. Your blog will continue to grow, I always enjoy visiting it even if I don't post. It is wonderful to know you. Hugs Sally from Wellington New Zealand

    Hey Lisa,
First: DO NOT ENTER ME IN THE DRAWING!!! That bag needs to go to a Grandma, I haven't earned my stripes yet, I couldn't stand the guilt if I won.
That being said, I have to tell you why I love your blog. I love hearing about Megan as a mother. The little window you provide into her world as mommy is wonderful for me. She was such a huge influence on my boys that I really enjoy hearing how she is raising her own boys.
I thought you would enjoy hearing some things that Aidan and Jonah still carry with them from your daughter:
How to build a fort, anywhere, any size, out of any thing. Snow cream. Always follow your faith, no matter how hard it gets and no matter who mocks you for it. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. If the boy (girl) treats you bad, dump him; there is one out there who will treat you right. Being afraid of the dark is really silly (reverse phsycology in Megan's case). Spending your time feeding into other people's children is a good and rewarding thing to do. Soda pop, she gave them thier first. Slim Jims as well. Plan where you want to be in life and go there, don't just ride the tide. You can do what's right and still have fun, most of the time. You can do what's right even when it's hard. Seven Eleven and all it's joys. Even if something is really hard when you start, even if you are really bad at it, stick with it and you will get great at it (she showed them this with her running). Jesus loves you!
Aidan and Jonah talk about your Megan all the time, I wish I had knocked Duncan out sooner so that he could know her better, but the older two are doing thier best to pass on her fort building skills to him anyway.
She was a great kid, and from what you write she sounds like a great Mommy.

Congratulations! Love that you inspire us with words and pictures... make us think about what is really important... share my love of cilantro... that you didn't let your shyness hold you back from trying new things... that although we haven't met, I really like you as a person and fellow grandma...

Thank you for putting time and effort into each post, and for thinking of others with your Grilled Grandmas and charities...

    Here's to your next year!

I just love your blog! Your sense of humor, the great stories, the ongoing challenge to see how precious our children and grandchildren are--all serve as an encouragement to my heart. Thanks for the good work that you do.
I think the No Kid Hungry campaign is wonderful. We are trying to get more involved in the Feed My Starving Children program in our area --so, feeding kids is a big deal to us.
    Thanks again and God Bless.

Happy Blogiversary! I love the fact that your doing a win-win. Don't ever stop with the blog. Your insight and love is very well needed and wanted. Hard to choose which charity so I will let you use your own discreasion. I really don't need to be entered into the drawing. Not a grandma yet... just the best Aunt ever. Ha Ha! Love Ya!

    July 30, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTonya Hall

Just want to say again...happy, happy Blogiversary! I'm so glad you started your blog. Even though I'm not a grandma, your blog always makes me smile or reflect...and sometimes both at the same time!

    Okay, as for my comments:

    1) I just loved the short little post you did about you and Jim wanting Led Zeppelin's "Thank You" for your wedding song. I don't know why. It just surprised me and made me really listen to that song for the first time. I never would've imagined it as a wedding song but after listening to the words, I can totally see it.

    2) Please don't enter me for the giveaway but if I WERE to hypothetically win in a parallel universe, I would choose Unicef.

    Again, Happy Blogiversary, my friend!
