Off to Grandma's
In a final fling with Southwest Airlines, I have a four-legged trip on the docket: fly to the desert; fly home with Bubby so he can spend a few days with Gramma and PawDad; fly Bubby back to the desert; then fly home alone.
The first leg went off without a hitch, with me arriving in the desert early last Thursday. After a few days of fun in the sun, er, a few days of playing in the house with Bubby because the oppressive heat prevented any living thing from being outside longer than 42 seconds at a time, Bubby and I left for the mountains yesterday morning. It was his first plane ride with Grandma -- and without Mom or Dad.
Because I didn't know how long it would take for this Grandma to get through the airport with a little boy holding one hand and a car seat in the other -- Bubby is now two and gets his own seat on the plane, thus needs to bring along his own car seat for maximum protection in the air -- we arrived with plenty of time to kill.
Which meant there was a lot of waiting.
And waiting.
And waiting.
And still more waiting.
Then finally ... we got to get on the plane ...
... and head for the mountains.
Nothing but clear skies, happy talk from Bubby, and -- most thankfully -- no poopy diapers mid-flight.
Once we landed, there was nothing but grins all around when we met up with PawDad and his surprise companions welcoming Bubby to the mountains: Auntie Andie ...
... and Aunt B!
Now the real fun begins!
Today's question:
What's one summer-like thing you've not yet done or accomplished this summer that you are determined to do before fall arrives?

sweet!
My 'to do' is very minor, but I want to take the kids to the LEGO exhibit that's here in town :-) That's it!
So glad you're both back in Colorado, having a memorable week at Grandma's and PawDads!
My project of planting bright flowers and thickening up grass with seed & fertilizer is on-going; I hope to have come closer to completing it before the snow flies here at 8600 feet elevation.
I'm glad the plane ride was uneventful. :)
Every single summer -- and I do mean EVERY one -- I declare that we're going to take my husband and his family to the top of Pikes Peak, because they've all been here for years and never been up there. And every single summer we get to the end without having done it. I'm absolutely determined to do this.
...You meant by the end of summer 2011, right?
My Back to School Party for the grands. It should have already happened since they started school last week. I certainly hope it happens before fall! I've been held up due to some painful dental problems.
It's looking like Papa and I are going to take them overnight to a local resort that has a built in water park. Two rooms, one for three boys (6,7,9) and Papa and the other for three girls (6,7.10) and grandma.
I am currently waiting for parental permission for this pretty crazy idea!
Enjoy your time with Bubby.
What a happy, sweet boy he is! I'm glad your trip was uneventful and there were so many people there to greet him like the star he is!
Before this summer is over, we're going to go camping. Maybe,
I am glad your plane trip went just fine. He looks like he handles flying okay...he is such a good boy! I know you, Jim and the girls are loving it. I was hoping to do something with a section of our back yard that is just dirt and weeds this summer....but now it looks like it may be next summer.
I'm so happy to hear your trip with Bubby went well --he looked so happy to see his Aunts and play in the sandbox. You are going to have a wonderful week!
I managed to do accomplish a "to do" things on my summer list this weekend...we went to Coney Island :-)
