The next Grilled Grandma
Come on by the Grilled Grandmas page and meet Shelley. She's an extra special grandma -- so special, in fact, that one of her grandsons has no qualms about letting the world know he plans to marry someone just like grandma.
As Shelley tells it:
"The birth of a new baby brother prompted a discussion with one of my six-year-old grandsons about him growing up and being a daddy someday. We were very proud to hear that he plans to grow up and get married to someone he loves and then have a family of his own. The next statement took us all by surprise. "I'm going to marry a 'grandma'!" This very sincere comment was enormously flattering, innocently precious, and somewhat troubling all wrapped into one unforgettable moment!"
Shelley's grilling can be found right HERE.
As always, let me know if you would like to be grilled right here on Grandma's Briefs. And if you don't want to be a Grilled Grandma -- or already have been -- feel free to nominate someone else for a grilling. All I need is her first name and e-mail address and I'll let her know the special nomination came from you.
Today's question:
Grandma Shelley loves her pearls. What's your favorite piece of jewelry?
My answer: I'm horrible at accessorizing and rarely wear anything more than my wedding band, gold post earrings with smaller hoops behind them, and my favorite piece: the diamond ring Jim bought me for our 25th anniversary. At the time of our engagement and wedding, we were too broke for diamonds. But he surprised me with the ring at Paris in Las Vegas, where we celebrated 25 years together.

The first year I had an empty nest my son and daughter bought me a birthstone charm necklace for Mother's day. I love it and I love that they thought about it on their own!
I think I'm worse than you, Lisa, when it comes to accessorizing. All I can think of is my watch and I'd hardly call it jewelry. But it would be my favorite accessory -- and it's a big green heart rate monitor watch. So feminine. ;)
I have 5 bracelets that I wear constantly... They are all special for one reason or another. I also have a turquoise pendant that was my grandma's which I love and the necklace I wear most often is a small silver sun charm that I got for free at a thrift store.
I love my pearls, too, but don't wear them much. Shelley looks pretty in hers.
I have some silver moose shaped earrings that I've had for 25 years (I know). I bought them in West Yellowstone one summer from a local artist. I love them and every time I wear them, someone comments.
I received my book today. Thank you so much, I can't wait to begin reading.
